Switch Style

Currently we offer only slider switches on our hoops and toggle switches on our light staffs. While other hoop makers offer internal toggle switches on their hoops, we find them to be very inconvenient on LED hoops. Also, the way our hoops are designed increases the chance that the snap button connector on the hoop will damage the toggle switch or the wiring and make the hoop malfunction.

The slider switch assembly is located inside the hoop so that only the switch itself is outside. It is then sanded to be flush with the outside of the hoop. The switch assembly inside the hoop keeps it held in place and is a very clean look. Sanding the switch flush to the outside of the hoop reduces the chance of accidentally turning it off while hooping.

Switch Location

We offer a choice of location on the slider switch. You can have it mounted either on the outer edge of the hoop or on the side. You may choose either of these options when ordering your hoop.

The edge of the hoop would be the top of the hoop if it was standing perpendicular to the ground. This was originally the standard way we mounted the switch. We found, however, that if the hoop got away from the hooper and started rolling, it could turn itself off. While it was easy to turn back on, we found this inconvenience a good enough reason to offer another option.

The side of the hoop would be facing you if the hoop was standing perpendicular to the ground. Putting the switch in this location makes it much less likely to turn off if the hoop gets away. This is now our standard switch mounting option.
